  17. Eh, i have neither problems using bffs (1.40 or so) to read my 1.1-formatted 
  18. partitions, nor do i have problems using /dev/reload. Of course, the later
  19. doesn't work if your new kernel differs substencially from the running one,
  20. the effect you describe (black screen, hanging machine) is the usual indication
  21. for this.
